How to change your negative thoughts into positive ones
We’ve all had dark times. I have a running monologue in my thoughts all day as an introvert, always analysing circumstances and other people’s words and behaviours.
I need to control the floodgates and stop negative thoughts from taking over my day. It’s exhausting some days. I’m still figuring things out.
I’ve always suffered from negative thoughts. I’ve glanced enviously at others who didn’t appear to be struggling at all.
However, whether you’re an introvert or not, that tiny voice in your head is entirely natural. Some people have only recently learnt to deal with it.
Negative thinking should not become a habit. Here are some suggestions for getting your mind and brain to cooperate. Your actions will also encourage more optimistic thinking!
Practice self-awareness and mindfulness.
Meditation is where mindfulness began. It is the act of separating oneself from your ideas and emotions and observing them objectively. Mindfulness training can help you become more aware of your thoughts and develop more self-awareness.
The goal of mindfulness is to alter your connection with your thoughts.
Consider your thoughts and feelings as moving things that you can either stop and examine or let pass you by.
Begin keeping a journal.
Recognize unpleasant ideas rather than trying to push them away. You want them to be resolved, not buried like seeds, waiting to sprout again. Every day, I keep track of every negative and positive thought I have, as well as where it occurred, why it occurred, and who it occurred with. It aids in the identification of triggers and the subsequent transformation of negative beliefs.
“What Would I Say to a Friend?” is a question you should always ask yourself.
It’s simpler to be kind to others than it is to ourselves. A simple exercise has been devised to help children spot “BLUE” thinking – blaming myself; looking for bad news; unsatisfactory guessing; and being Excessively gloomy.
Adults can use it as well. Imagine that your friend has this challenge to turn those “BLUE” concepts into genuine thoughts. You’d almost certainly reassure them. What suggestions would you make?
Surround yourself with positive people.
I called a friend who I knew could give me constructive yet loving feedback. When you’re stuck in a negative spiral, talk to people who can put things into perspective and won’t feed your negative thinking.
Focus On Gratitude
Gratitude is underrated by most but is essential to a happy life. Life doesn’t get easier, but we become stronger as we reframe difficulties by recognizing all of the little good things going on around us. Keep a Good List and refer to it daily. Also, focus on what you really want and be very specific. A focused, positive mind will attract what it is seeking over time.
Remind yourself to think positively every day
With hard work, determination, and strength, nothing is impossible. Negative thinking is common, but too often it is harmful to the body, mind, and soul. Each time you have a negative thought, redirect it to a positive channel. Find the positive in the negative. It is going to be difficult, but it becomes easier with practice. In the long run, you will be relaxed more often and enjoy life a whole lot more.
